I'm shamefully badly informed about the options for UK holidays having spent a lot of my childhood overseas. We're looking to rent a cottage in the first week of September - I'd like somewhere on the coast, within easy(ish) driving of London and with plenty of wet weather options for a nearly 4 year old and a 1 year old. Just don't really know where to start...

Hi Snickersnack, went to Isle of Wight last year and it rained all week (despite being July!) with DS then just 3. Stayed in a lovely 2 bed cottage (Coastguard Cottages www.bookcottages.com/cottages/100-16884-coastguard-cottage.htm ) which was very well equipped with good heating! Also had a garden (which we didn't use). IoW is very kid orientated - there is a fab soft play in Newport, dinosaur isle, steam railway, robinhood park (if the weather is OK) and loads more so worth considering (and as there's a ferry journey you can almost convince yurself that your going abroad
Good luck!
