Dog-friendly stopover suggestions between Cumbria and St Ives with teenagers

Just booked a campsite near St Ives for next August. As we're travelling from Cumbria I'd like to book somewhere on the way for 3 or 4 nights, then a 1 or 2 night stop on the way back. Kids will be 16 and 13. Will have dog with us.

I am wondering about River Dart Country Park? Will it be amazing or too young for them? 16 year old has never done many adventurous activities.

And other suggestions please? Must be dog friendly! We've never had a dog until this year and usually have gone abroad.

We travel from the North east to South West to family most years and my kids Love our stops at River Dart Country Park although we don't stay over as we are almost there by that point. Mine are younger secondary age. We have also stopped in Stratford upon Avon and done all the Shakespeare stuff which is probably a bit niche but they were in to it at the time. Or Bristol/Bath is a a cool stop too.

Bristol is a good idea. They do love city shops.
