Lincolnshire - things to do

We're off to Lincolnshire on Friday for a week. We're staying in an Airbnb near Grantham. 'We' consists of me, DH and two boys aged 10 and 13.

Anyone have fun suggestions of things to do?

So far we've booked Ancaster Go Karting and the Lincoln Aqua Park. Any other suggestions gratefully received.

I have been told different, also by a policeman. Maybe the police force in Lincolnshire have their own rules.

If you’re going to conningsby then Woodhall Spa is ten minutes down the road and worth a visit. jubilee park has an outdoor swimming pool and the “kinema” (no idea why it’s spelt with a K) is a very cute and old fashioned cinema in the middle of the woods. It’s like stepping back in time.

Lots to do if you don't mind driving.

As already mentioned, Lincoln is lovely, the Castle is great. The cathedral is the most beautiful in the world, if they still do the roof tour that was really good.
Belton House is fab, as is Tattershall Castle - both National Trust. Tattershall is close to Woodhall Spa, don't miss the Kinema in the Woods, see if they have a showing with the organ.
Woolsthorpe Manor, the home of Isaac Newton, is also National Trust, the hands on science centre is fun.
Anderby Creek is a lovely beach. The coast is a long drive from Grantham. Skegness is a shithole.
Heckington Windmill if you like windmills, or beer.
The Bomber Command Centre outside Lincoln is fascinating and moving.
Burghley House, Belvoir Castle, Grimesthorpe Castle.

It's a bit run down and very windy, but if you like fairgrounds, candyfloss and kiss-me-quick hats it could be fun !

We decided the seaside was too far away so didn't do that but did loads of other fun things:
Lincoln cathedral
Lincoln castle - including seeing falconry and a real joust!
Lincoln steep hill and shops
Lincoln water park which was fab
Ancaster go Karting which was the highlight and the one thing I'd booked in advance especially as it was so local to us. Highly recommend.
Isaac Newton's house - massive thanks to whoever suggested this as it was an unexpected hit, especially all the hands on science experiments.
Belton house and estate which also had a mega Pokémon thing happening which they loved.
International Bomber Command which was really interesting and moving.

I think that was the main stuff but all great and from recommendations here so thanks again.

Ah sounds like you had a good time and fitted lots of stuff in! Maybe you can do the coast another time, good excuse to come back and visit other areas 😀

Lincoln is one of my favourite cities, especially round by the cathedral and castle. They have one of the few original copies of the Magna Carta and the Forest Charter, not particularly exciting, but a huge part of our history. The castle has an incredible chapel, which I saw as a teenager and never forgot, and now in my 70s, took DH for the first time last year. Woodhall Spa was a base for the bomber crews, and there is a hotel that was used by them, with loads of memorabilia, including a bouncing bomb. It is also a lovely little town.
