North Norfolk coast - quick visit

I am going to something one afternoon near North Walsham. I’d like to eat fish and chips (ultimately need to head south either via Thetford or down from Kings Lynn). There are lots of towns/villages/beaches along the coast or I could stay in north walsham - my biggest criterion is easy to park, so some town that has a proper car park with enough spaces it’s unlikely to be full even on a Friday. And then good fish and chips and perhaps nice view. I’m assuming I’ll be free by 5.30 so could be after that (don’t want to stay long as long drive), but conceivably I could get there for lunchtime instead (I assumed it might be too crowded anywhere).
So what are the best fish and chips in places with easy parking/driving? Any suggestions?

From north walsham I’d head to Cromer or Mundesley. Cromer is bigger with a pier etc, mundesley is more a simple promenade with a carpark up the steps and across the road. You can get decent fish and chips in either.

If you’re thinking further North then I’d go to Wells.

Wells for fish and chips on the harbour wall. You can also drive down to the beach (large car park) if you want to stretch your legs for 20 mins by the sea before you drive home.

Thank you both, I’ll check them out on google maps and see which is best for the drive home and the parking! Hopefully evening will be ok for parking (and fish and chips should still be open?!)

Parking at Wells isn’t great. Cromer probably better. No 1 fish and chip restaurant and take-away is open to 8.30pm.

Parking is hit and miss at Wells as a pp states. I second Cromer and go to No 1.

Brancaster Beach is a local gem. Parking is cheap and just a few steps from golden sands- although go when the tide is going out as at high tide the road to access the car park can flood.

There are toilets and a kiosk with basics like ice cream, snacks, cold drinks.

Coming back when you come to high street, turn left and on the right is Ship Hotel and Pub which has excellent fish and chips, mussels and so on.

Wells and Cromer are over touristed as is our old haunt, Holkham Bay.
Brancaster or Old Hunstanton are still unspoiled, although I prefer Brancaster as Old Hunstanton has the RNLI stuff there and the toilets are rank.

Thanks, I’ll check those out too. Brancaster sounds nice but is a bit further so I’ll need to check best route home, though I think it doesn’t matter too much. Cromer or Mundesley sound like good options from the map. I’ll look up some parking options in a few places and get them in the sat nav in advance

Cromer has a huge carpark just a short and pleasant stroll into town, all along the seafront. The town is pretty and there’s a lovely pier too. If you can spare the time, book to see the End of the Pier show. We’ve been twice. It’s in the most gorgeous little theatre and is a real throwback in the best possible way. It’s a little gem.
