Have a day off next Monday and would like to go for a long weekend. We have been to west wales number of times and love it. Fancy going somewhere else this time, don’t need a beach and we have out Ddog with us and would love to take her for walks, relax in pubs,

The Cotswolds would suit your needs.

Westward Ho! Or Ilfracombe (think its more dog friendly) in North Devon x

KnickerlessParsons · 26/07/2026 13:40

Not Westward Ho!, which certainly doesn’t deserve its !

KnickerlessParsons · 26/07/2026 13:42

Wells, Glastonbury - that’s a nice area too

HoldMyWine · 26/07/2026 13:43

Dorset?

Wiltshirehammy · 26/07/2026 13:53

Have you been to the Harbourmaster in Aberaeron?

ProfessorLayton1 · 26/07/2026 17:25

Haven’t been Dorset or North Devon - any specific area to go to, as said before does not need to be near beach . Thanks for all the suggestions.

Neither of these. Go for Croyde or Woolacombe. Nor further down to Bude which is North Cornwall.

Or keep going down the M5 to Exeter and Exmouth.

Shropshire? Beautiful countryside for walking.

Hay on Wye? Ludlow, Herefordshire. All very dog friendly.

I would go to mid / North Wales first. But I would choose Dorset over Devon. Either Lyme Regis or Bridport / West Bay. I also really like the villages and small towns of North Dorset and into Wiltshire. Look at Sherborne, or Shaftesbury.
