Hi, has anybody been to the Summer Solstice at Stonehenge?

Would love to go but not sure of logistics, ie what time do you need to arrive, how difficult is the public transport (car park booking is full), is their toilets onsite etc

thanks, I have looked at that but wanted opinions of people who have actually been

Might just wait until next year when we can book a car park space instead

Whenever I’ve been I’ve got the bus from Salisbury centre around 10pm. It’s quite a walk from where the bus drops to the stones but there’s plenty of people around. You could park on a residential road off Castle Road and get the bus from the main road.
I also know people that just wake up early and go around 4am so missing the overnight bit. Despite the warnings not to, people will absolutely park along the A303 and other main roads, which is crazy dangerous but they know best…
I don’t know if Amesbury has a regular bus service as I’ve only been from Salisbury. Toilets fine but take tissue and hand sanitizer.
Its always well run and a great experience to have at least once in your life!

I went about 15 years ago and it was utterly grim. Hope your experience is better!!

thank you @aprilshowers2015 - unfortunately I am unable to walk a walk way so we will leave it until next time when I can book a car parking space as they are sold out for this weekend

I think it’s the same walk from the bus stop and the car park to the stones as it’s all at the visitors centre, you can’t drive any closer. The shuttle buses that run in the day are taken off due to the crowds.

How about Avebury instead? Arguably better( well, different, anyhow...)

I have just looked up Avebury & that looks like it's a really good option, thank you
