UK hotel with an indoor-outdoor pool?

Probably 40 years ago I have memory of going to a hotel in the UK which had an "inside-outside" swimming pool. I.e part was inside but I think you could swim through some plastic dangling bits to get to what was the other part of the pool outside. I have no other memory of the hotel or where it was in the country. I wondered if anyone knows it or if it still exists?!

I can think of two in Scotland and one in Ireland. I’m sure there are plenty!

Blue lagoon water park in Wales?
A lazy river takes you outside.

Dunno but there’s at least one in Switzerland

Our kids love Perth swimming pool in Scotland, slides, whirlpools, waterfalls, in and out areas

Seconding the Buxton Hotel and Spa - fabulous little pool outside that connects to larger one inside. And it's on a roof.

Some of these hotels don't seem to fit what I'm talking about, as they maybe have an inside pool AND an outside pool, rather than one which is the same pool. I love swimming in an outside pool on a bright but cool day like the ones we've been having, but hate getting out in the cold so being able to swim back inside and get out there suits me well! The Buxton one looks gorgeous. @Rarelyout do you know the names of the ones you mentioned?

Center Parcs?

momager22 · 16/05/2026 08:02

Are you sure it was a hotel op? Lots of water parks have this. We had similar in the north east called wet and wild.

A lot of spa hotels have this.
I know for one the Last Drop Village in Bolton and I think Shrigley Hall in Pott Shrigley

Im
not sure they meet your description… Onespa at the Sheraton in Edinburgh maybe? Schloss Roxburgh in Kelso, Gleneagles.

@momager22 I'm pretty sure it was a hotel not a water park.
