I really want to take 8yo DD away for a couple of nights. We also have an 11yo DS who is autistic with learning disability and high care needs. We haven’t been on holiday for over two years as the last time we tried a Hoseasons type deal DS started destroying the caravan so we had to come home.

DS has a carer that takes him out a few times a week, he qualifies for overnight respite but we can’t get him to stay there so it’s had to be shelved for a few years. It’s mostly just us and him. It’s a lot. DH can look after DS for a couple of nights but because he’s so full-on we wouldn’t be able to be away longer than that.

I just want to give DD some 1-1 relaxed time with swimming and nice food. Budget is up to £700, so while not in Big Spender territory I think we can get something a bit nicer than Butlins hotel.

We are in the SE, and would want to stay there, I would need to be in the county of Kent or East Sussex so that I could get back to DS within an hour or two, if needed. She wants a spa, but I’m not sure how realistic a kids spa retreat is.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I can see a few candidates by Googling but I really rate personal recommendations for stuff like this.

If you can get to windsor, I think the Runnymede ticks all your boxes. I went there with my dd about that age and we had a blast. Perfect spot with things to do. Super accommodating of kids but still feels special and not like a crèche.
