Suggestions for a longer UK retreat with activities for a 65 year old

I'll soon be moving out of my home due to divorce (not my choice - I'm devastated) and will be moving in with a family member but really feel the need to go away for a while and do a retreat. The ones I've looked at all seem very short and I was thinking a few weeks or everyone looks really young in the pics and I'm 65. I'd like somewhere with activities ie swimming, walking, mindfulness classes, yoga (although I've never done any!). Any suggestions

Sorry to hear about your circumstances, that must be very painful.
I think in the UK, retreats tend to be shorter stays because they all seem so expensive, I don’t expect there’s much demand for longer stays at a high cost. I wonder if a way around it is to choose a location that you like, book two separate stays at the same place but with a gap between, so you do the retreat, then stay locally and enjoy a break, then back to the retreat.
Don’t be put off people in the photos!
You've posted in UK travel so I’m presuming you only want UK suggestions? If you’re open to travel I can recommend a couple of places overseas where you could do a longer stay.

I would go abroad I think. It will be cheaper and more of an experience. 💐

Thank you. There is no reason I can’t go abroad I just thought it would be easier in the uk so open to suggestions

Othona at Bradwell in Essex might be worth a look. A friend of mine goes regularly and I know there are quite a few activities going on.

Perhaps look at Skyros Holidays in Greece.

Have a look at Responsible Travel. Breaks both in the UK and abroad.
I can't link but there's a women's activity holiday in the Lake District.

@goldenchickens if you're still looking, these options may suit

Another idea - The Sharpham Trust near Totnes.

suburberphobe · 20/05/2026 00:24

OP, have a look - google - a retreat place in Wales by Charlotte Church.

It could do you good....
