What are the most remote places in the Lake District?

Do you mean where there are less tourists? Because you could stand on the top of Scafell and that’s remote or you could go to Eden valley or Newlands valley and there are fewer tourists.

Yeah, but also just generally remote? The kinds of places where this is no WiFi 🤣

Remote - I’d go up a hill near wasdale or eskdale but avoid the really big ones

no WiFi - well most places outdoors… even in London

no mobile signal? You need to study a map and find the valleys that don’t have line of sight to roads and towns

garlictwist · 05/05/2026 08:42

Ennerdale, maybe Wasdale

To be honest most places have decent signal in the Lakes

GloiredeDijon · 05/05/2026 08:46

The west of Cumbria is the land which time forgot.
Try Silloth.

I'd go for Eskdale for a remote, untouristy break. The glamping pods around there are lovely and lots of walks from the doorstep.

Newtrix · 08/05/2026 13:25

I was going to suggest Wasdale too.

Fuckingfuckssake · 08/05/2026 13:27

Eden Valley

HScully · 08/05/2026 13:41

Wasdale Wastwater it is stunning

Fuckingfuckssake · 08/05/2026 22:52

Wastwater is my favourite place in the lakes but it’s very popular now, you need to get there very early to get any chance of being able to park, it’s full of paddle boarders playing loud music.

Hallywally · 08/05/2026 22:55

Millom 🤣

Why the laugh emoji? Where is it? I’ve never been to the Lakes so no idea 😂

An acquaintance of mine (who I’ve lost touch with) went somewhere in the lakes which she said was ‘very remote’, and the only places with WiFi were the pubs and cafes.

Wasdale is remote but very popular at the moment. Eskdale or Seathwaite (the one next to Coniston not Borrowdale) might work.

Just don't take a phone?
