West Midlands Safari Park

We have a few hours to spare in Birmingham and were thinking of being dropped at West Midlands Safari Park. I know we can pay extra for a minibus tour, but other than the drive around, is there much to see and are we at a disadvantage without a car?

If we got there at 10am, what time would you recommend booking the tour?

We booked a tour as my son is a wheelchair user so thought ‘walking’ round would be a bit much, honestly I’d highly recommend it as the guide was soooo knowledgeable we learned much more than just looking and reading. As for the rest we only did a little of it as my son was worn out.

We went last year and loved it. We had a car so can’t comment on the minibus tour but there’s a little theme park area which was perfect for my kids (7 and 3). A few rides and no queues. Could easily spend a couple of hours there as well as doing the bus tour to see the animals.

We went a few years ago, loved it. Definitely do the minibus tour if you don't have a car otherwise you will miss out on loads. Driving around it was our highlight. But also enjoyed walking around the zoo area and the penguin show.
