We've been to Butlins. The kids love it but dh and I hate it. If you like lots of entertainment and stuff to do and don't mind being surrounded by lots of other people then its great

Pontins is great for children of that age.

Tis all a bit naff and tacky, but they really do work hard to make it a great holiday for the children.

Pay for the best accommodation that you can afford. Club class inter-connecting rooms are clean, spacious, and usually in nicer locations.

We go half-board, which means DH and I get a rest too.

There are things for the children to do from 10am until they fall asleep.

The Bluecoats work their socks off.

The evening entertainment is naff, but the children love it.

I sit and get gently sozzled as the children join in with the fun and games.

Have been to Butlins Bognor Regis, kids absolutely loved it - they were only 1.5 and 3 at the time so different activities to what you would want, but there seemed to be loads for older kids - football clubs, crazy golf, fairground on site etc. Also Bognor is literally right next to the beach. The staff all work really hard, and yes it is a bit cheap and cheerful but was all spotlessly clean, everything worked in the apartment and the kids had as good a time as they would have if it was 5 star luxury.
