Places to eat in Belfast

I’ll be in Belfast next month for a few days and I’m looking for some recommendations of where to eat in the evening.

We are staying in the Cathedral Quarter but happy to walk.

I’m hoping for some cosy independent places that does a decent vegan option and where we can enjoy a bottle of wine without being rushed.

Trip Adviser is just confusing me!

Belfast local here! La Bottega is my absolute favourite restaurant. Small, independent Italian. Lovely, cosy place with brilliant atmosphere. Great menu with loads of proper, authentic classics and equally plenty of seasonal options. Owner is amazing and makes a point of stopping for a chat and laugh with each guest. The Crafty Vintner wine bar is 2 mins away, brilliant for a drink afterwards (they have wine tasting machines!)

What kind of food do you like/want?

We ate in cathedral quarter at an amazing place which did boxty and Guinness bread. Name escapes me though

It is v good but not in cathedral quarter - more queens quarter! Also near queens is Deanes at queens which has always been very good when i have been.

really good vegan friendly Indian called Archana on Dublin Road.

best restaurant imo in Belfast is Stock, above St George’s market. Not sure about vegan though.

Have heard good things about Howard Street.
and Yugo - Asian small plates vibe.

avoid the lantern that for some reason trip advisor loves. Food is not great.

Oooh I agree.. love Deanes at Queens, especially with the view of Methody! Stock is also lovely, beautiful setting but not great for vegans - I’m veggie and often struggle to find a good option on their menu.

Thanks all I’ll check out menus.

For PP who asked what I like - anything really as long as vegan option - so probs not steak places etc

Home Restaurant has good vegan options usually.
House of Zen also maybe?

Jumon on Fountain Street is great for Asian Vegetarian and Vegan food.

I recommend Coppi which has great vegan options, should be quite close to where you’re staying
