If you have stayed in both, which do you prefer and why?

Both fine location wise for what I want to see and do during my 3 night stay.

Thank you.

Have stayed in Blackfriars- which we loved.
great location.
10 years ago mind!

Also have stayed at the Blackfriars location, in 2024. Really liked it and nice bar for a nightcap!

Fast800goingforit · 21/03/2026 16:44

I've stayed in the Farringdon one. Not much going on in the area at night time. Some of the rooms are internal and don't have windows to the outside.

That’s useful to know @Fast800goingforit, thank you.

I stayed in the Farringdon one for work last month. Quiet, but absolutely tiny room with no storage to speak of and worst of all, no kettle/tea making facilities. And one of those e-systems controlling the lights which you need a PhD to understand. I wouldn't stay there again and was grateful work were paying tbh.

rookiemere · 22/03/2026 20:50

I have stayed twice at Blackfriars. Rooms are a decent size for London and I like the location.

Sunbeam18 · 22/03/2026 20:53

The one at Bankside is far nicer than Blackfriars

Sunbeam18 · 22/03/2026 20:55

If that is useful, it's only 10 mins walk away and just behind Tate Modern

That sounds like the Hub one (Farringdon Old Bailey) rather than the normal one (Farringdon Smithfield)

It was the Hub one, you're right. Straight up Farringdon Rd from the station.

Farringdon is next to an amazing caff if you don't fancy their breakfast! And quite a few old school pubs.

Thanksforyourlackofthought · 22/03/2026 21:07

I stay at the Farringdon one a lot for work. It’s always the first choice if in that area.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 22/03/2026 21:07

Thank you everyone. I think Blackfriars is just shading it on location.

Beppes cafe. Old school place. Shuts at 2pm sharp so best for breakfast but they do nice lunches too.
Limited seating but really good fry up x

We stayed in the Blackfriars one last year with DS and it was in a perfect location and a really friendly nice hotel. Would absolutely stay there again.

ChristmaslightsuptilJanuary · 22/03/2026 21:37

I love the Farringdon premier inn and it’s handy for both the Farringdon and St Paul’s tube stations. Have stayed there many times and never had a room without a window.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 22/03/2026 21:37

Have stayed in Farringdon Smithfield a couple of times. I like it, very quiet, plenty of cafés and restaurants around the area, walkable from Kings Cross (depending on how much you like to walk to be fair).

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 24/03/2026 18:26

Thank you everyone. Finally settled on Blackfriars. Will try Farringdon next time!
