As title says really, I have trawled every site imagineable. It has to be on the north cost - as bil wants to surf and says south coast isnt great for that. ideally we can walk to a beach aswell.

Anyone got any ideas??

We've just cancelled this. 1 week in August. But.... I have heard that they've managed to relet. BUt maybe worth having a looksee. was booked by us for 23rd - 30th.

Looks lovely. Beach walkable - but not right on the sea.

endymion · 18/06/2008 08:22

Oh golly - for 2009! Sorreee.

Have a look at the Porthcothan Village Stores website. They have a list of houses in porthcothan to rent. Is a gorgeous bay. Really lovely. Not far from Padstow, but the beach never gets too busy because is large.

My cousins stay at Overcliff, which is apparently lovely and sleeps 10. LOng Cove is a fantastic house, right on the cliff. I have stayed next door.

Will do links to Porthcothan.....

Lovely houses. Boobys Bay is great - fantastic rockpools plus next to amazing sandy beach at Constantine.

Trevethan House fancy. In porthcothan.

All £££.

Santa Marina in Trevone is in an excellent location. Stayed there about 30 years ago, and next to it more recently.

Trevone can get pretty busy though - smaller beach so less sand at high tide. Drive through there over half term and was heaving with mitty james towelling dresses and boden.

endymion · 18/06/2008 08:31

Sorry - am going on a bit.

Is my favourite part of the world....

Wags · 18/06/2008 08:35

We have stayed at Little Polgarron at Boobys Bay (Endymion's last link). You couldn't be any nearer to the beach - we went off season, March time I think and had fantastic walks along the coast line and on the beach. We found a local who had a small mini bus thing and we used him in the evenings to drive us into Padstow etc, so we could all have a drink and not worry. DH thought the accommodation was a bit scruffy, I didn't really but in the description it sounds like they have done quite a bit of new work to it. Hi Endymion, was going to ring you to point you to this thread as I knew you would have some good links

fullmoonfiend · 18/06/2008 08:38

Not going to north cornwall for first time in 4 years. Feel rather bereft...

Wags · 18/06/2008 08:46

Jeees, just looked at the prices of the one we stayed in for August. No wonder we went in March

hertsnessex · 18/06/2008 08:49

Was this one of them?

We've been to West Pentire/Crantock, it's lovely. I don't know if you can surf on the local beach though. (We had tiny children when we went so weren't looking )

hertsnessex · 18/06/2008 10:54

no.........but it is now!!!

Hi Wags! Of course I got to this thread. I have North Cornwall alerts whenever anyone mentions the place.
Off-topic - but how long was that meeting.......

Annnie · 07/03/2009 10:00

Hi - lots of North Cornwall cottages on www.MyCottageHoliday.co.uk

If you have stayed in Cornwall, you could also add a holiday cottage review of the place you stayed at to help other people choose the right place.

verylapsedrunner · 07/03/2009 19:41

Watch out for dog rules on Cornwall Beaches, lots are out of bounds May-Sep or only allow them on a small section, have a look here www.cornwall-beaches.co.uk/dog.php

StayingZen · 07/03/2009 20:16

This cottage belongs to a friend of mine - says it sleeps 9 but worth asking if it will stretch to 10. It's at Daymer Bay near Rock.

Try Trevethan in Rock. (www.rockselfcatering.com) that sleeps 10 if you count 2 on a Futon.
