House move to Nantwich or Whitchurch

I'm thinking of moving to either Nantwich or Whitchurch. I'm concerned about flooding in Nantwich and was wondering the best roads to look at and where to avoid. Out of Nantwich and Whitchurch l think Nantwich is my favourite area but would like some feedback for Whitchurch as well with regards to the best part to live. I'm looking to move in the next few months so hoping to find somewhere in either of these places pretty quickly.

Whitchurch is generally cheaper than Nantwich so you get a bit more house for your money. Nantwich is in Cheshire and a bit more new- money, blingy. I dont like this about Nantwich. Lots of people there with status- anxiety ie private number plates etc
Both are quite middle-England. Neither are very diverse. Whitchurch is in Shropshire so a bit more country bumpkin and a little bit "rougher", for want of a better word. But not rough in the overall scheme of things. The people are a bit simpler (in a nice way). It depends what you are looking for really. Nantwich is 40 mins in the train to Manchester and the train is direct, but I think that train comes through Whitchurch first anyway. The only bits of Nantwich that flood occasionally are the houses right next to the river. As long as you dont buy there, you'll be fine. Does it have to be one of these two? Have you thought about Shrewsbury? It's a nice town with a bit more going on.

I really want somewhere on the Cheshire Shropshire border with good public transport and local shops. If l were to look at Shrewsbury which parts would you recommend.

I don't know Shrewsbury well enough to advise on specific areas. I just go there for shopping/ mooching about sometimes and it seems to have a lot of good independent shops and cafes and generally seems like a nice place to live.
Nantwich is nice and has a lot of little cafes and shops and a good market. The town centre has gine downhill a bit lately, as is the case in many places. It's well-placed for Manchester/ Liverpool/ Chester/ Stoke. It has direct trains to manchester and crewe station is only 10 mins by car. Whitchurch is a bit more out of the way. But it does have some nice little shops and cafés too.
