we are thinking of taking our 16yr old son and his friend to Edinburgh for a couple of days in spring. I’m looking for recommendations of things to do? The dungeons and Mary Kings Close are on their list already.

Camera obscura is one of my favourite places to take the kids in Edinburgh. Took 4 ranging from 3-16 and all loved it. Right next to the castle so ideal to do before/after if visiting there.

Climb the Scott Monument in Princes Street Gardens, go on a Ghost walking tour or Ghost Bus, visit the Museum of Scotland (free entry) and drive a F1 car/lots of things to see and do there, also the Royal College of Surgeons museum Surgeons' Hall Museums | RCSEd. Wonder around Edinburgh University near to the museums. St James Quarter for food - east part of Princes Street. Fantastic place to visit.

The underground tours are good!

Forget the 💩 at St James Quarter. Overhyped.

Calton Hill is great for a wander and they'll love the views from there looking right over the city. True panoramic views!

Agree. Camera obscura. Ghost walks. Walk up Arthur’s Seat if you want some exercise. Zoo. Museum of Scotland. Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith.

Download the “Bus and Tram” app for getting around Edinburgh.
