Liverpool hotel recommendations

Special occasion so happy to pay a bit more than usual.

Need two twin rooms (which not all hotels do) - so can anyone advise which is their favourite out of these:

Pullman
The Resident
64 Castle Street Hotel
Radisson RED.

We'll want to visit the cathedrals, the Albert Dock and some of the museums, so I'm hoping they're all in a decent location to do that on foot.

Thanks.

There’s an amazing one I stayed recently for work - hang on !

patooties · 03/11/2025 23:30

Municipal hotel. Lovely.

meadster · 04/11/2025 06:58

Sadly the Municipal has no twin rooms, all doubles.

Does anyone have a view on the 4 hotels I listed?

I’ve stayed at Radisson RED but chosen purely because of its location next to Lime St station. I would say the immediate area it’s in was a bit scruffy with lots of litter but that’s probably because of the station, but once you’re inside the hotel it’s very well sound-proofed.

I’ve stayed at the other Radisson in the city centre too. Both hotels are exactly as they’re shown in their photo galleries. Not extremely high-end but nicer than Premier Inn type.

The city centre is compact and very walkable, everywhere you go there’s something to look at. There’s also the tourist buses where your ticket is valid all day and you can just hop on and off eg at the cathedrals. The library is worth a look if you do the bus tour.

That's helpful thanks.

Definitely the pullman. Stayed in 2xtwin rooms last year and I gave it a 5star review.everything is easily walkable from there.

ghostyslovesheets · 04/11/2025 08:27

I loved The Pullman - stayed in one of the rooms with the free mini bar etc - lovely. A bit out of the way but close to the Albert Dock and L1

meadster · 04/11/2025 13:50

Two votes for The Pullman! Did it feel luxurious or more functional?

Different room prices so go as expensive as you can afford.i still remember breakfast and evening meal with great pleasure.

Not luxury luxury but it’s nice - 4* I’d say - Nice touches - like the free mini bar being fully replenished daily - fully! So not just things I’d used - ended up taking wine and nuts home with me!

It has twin rooms, but with two double beds.

meadster · 04/11/2025 21:04

Perhaps it's just the dates I'm looking at, but the rooms with 2 double beds in the Municipal must be meant for 4 people as they are twice the price of the double rooms. Not worth it for 2 people.

Has anyone stayed at 62 Castle Street Hotel?

The Resident! Stayed recently and thought it was fantastic!

meadster · 04/11/2025 23:18

Thank you.

Inside by melia has twin rooms, a nice bar on the top storey, very quiet, good breakfast.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/11/2025 08:47

I really liked the Pullman but it’s a bit of a trek. We were lazy and used Ubers a couple of times. The breakfast was excellent.

moneyadviceplease · 15/11/2025 09:01

The Pullman is lovely but it’s on the far side of the docks so a bit annoying location wise. The Maldron is my favourite. I really want to try the Hope Street Hotel which is meant to be fabulous

meadster · 15/11/2025 17:27

The two comments about location are spot on, because I was just about to book The Pullman when I realised it would be tricky to walk from there to the sights we want to see. So I booked The Resident instead.

The Resident seems really good value so I have traded up to bigger rooms than we would normally have. I imagine it's cheaper because there's no hotel restaurant, however the rooms have a kitchenette and the hotel will apparently buy breakfast supplies & put them in your fridge if you order in advance. I will report back after the trip!

Just remembered I said I'd report back.

We were all very happy with The Resident. Great location, surrounded by restaurants and bars, but no noise inside the hotel so I guess it must be well soundproofed. Easy walk to all the sights.

Between 6 and 7pm there is free wine, prosecco and crisps offered in the lounge area, which was a nice start to our evenings out. Worth paying slightly more for the bigger rooms I would say.

So glad you liked The Resident! I liked everything about it, wish I had a reason to go back 🤣

Marymary77 · 06/03/2026 22:10

@meadster and @RainySundayAfternoon We're looking at hotels in Liverpool right now and saw the Resident. Looking at the website, some of the rooms seem to be up in the eaves with very low ceilings. Did you request not to have these? They look slightly claustrophobic.

meadster · 07/03/2026 19:19

I'm sure you could make that request: the staff are very accommodating. Our rooms had very high ceilings and I requested they be in a quiet location.

Marymary77 · 08/03/2026 07:29

Great - thanks for that @meadster !
I think it looks fab but the kids love a hotel breakfast so aren't sure. I think going out to brunch is as much fun though!

meadster · 08/03/2026 18:57

Re breakfast: I got the hotel to put pain au raisins, pain au chocolate and yoghurts in our fridges before we arrived. There's also a brunch place directly opposite.

Have a lovely time in Liverpool, wherever you decide.
