Farking nora! Does it really have to cost nearly that much for 2 adults and 3 DCs to stay somewhere for one night, I repeat ONE NIGHT in a B&B?

We have a wedding to go to in Worthing on July 12th. Too far to drive home. No Travel Lodges or Premier Inn type places with availability. If we camp we have to get there early enough to put the tent up and as it's about 4hr drive and the wedding is at 12 that is a tall order. Could go up the night before but that would entail either putting the tent up in the dark or DH and I taking leave on the Friday.

Is it really that expensive? I've found rooms at £35 per person per night. Family room available for 4 (not 5) at £110 with another £65 for an extra single room. I don't want silk sheet on the bed, and foie gras and champagne for breakfast FFS! (well I might but could do without)

If we spend a fortune on this, our main holiday fund will be seriously depleted.

Any ideas? Anyone in Worthing can suggest a good and not so expensive B&B.

TBH, I think that's about the cheapest you're likely to find.

Are there any youth hostels in the area?

university halls accommodation? they are sometimes rented out for vacations, and can be cheaper than B&Bs...

Only hostel is booked up for that night. Nearest about 20 miles away. Might still consider it though.

If we can't find something DH might go on his own - we simply don't have that much money to spare. He can camp on his neice's floor - she can't find space for all of us

Check again on Travelodge as I have just done it for you and there is availability in Norwich Central which is 16 miles away from Worthing!

I've searched travelodge and Gatwick looks like it's 25 miles away - they've got a family room for £57. Obviously you'd have to sneak in a dc and take an extra mattress as the family rooms only sleep 4...

There is a Worthing in Norfolk apparently! I didn't know that either but I know very little about Norfolk.

I have left it for a while but will start a sustained campaign of phone calls tomorrow.
