I would like to stay during half tern on May next year at Carbis bay. I found a lovely accommodation but it is not too far from the railway station, around 5 min walk. I am quiet worried, it could be noisy and spoilt my holiday. Thank ypu to share your experience. .

I stayed there couple of years ago. The train went past at the end of the garden...it wasn't too noisy. I loved carbis bay! And St Ives!

I don’t remember it being a problem and I’ve stayed near the station a few times. Carbis is a lovely place.

I wouldn't have thought so, it's a one track local line, very cute, I went on it two weeks ago. Have a lovely holiday!

Carbis Bay is so beautiful that even if there was a bit of noise if it’s local and a nice accommodation, I would stay there anyway!

We stayed in Carbis Bay about a 5 min walk from the station during the summer. It was perfect, no noise at all. On the other hand, St Ives was heaving so I was very glad not be staying there - we walked the coastal path most days to see the sights and caught the train back.

No it’s like a quiet town. The seagulls are probably noisier than the tourists or the train!

ElixirOfLife · 30/09/2025 21:41

It’s just a branch line, you’ll barely know it’s there. We’re talking Ivor The Engine not intercity 125. 🤣

No, very quiet. Beautiful place. Enjoy!

We stayed at Carbis Bay hotel and the train line was very close by . Can never remember hearing the train. I have fantastic childhood memories staying at Carbis Bay.

Great ! Thank you for your messages ! Very happy that this is not a problem. It seems a very beautiful place and I am looking forward to seeing the beach.

Stayed there some years ago (2017?) At the lovely but sadly now no longer Cottage Hotel, very close to the railway line. I didn't find it noisy at all and loved being able to ride the train for a 3 min journey to St Ives. Carbis Bay is lovely, I loved being able to swim early in the morning sunrise and late in the evening under moonlight with the beach being so near.

Have a great time! I really recommend walking the coastal path to St Ives - took us about 40 mins and it is steep in places but mostly downhill to St Ives, it’s the return that’s a killer!

Try to eat at The Beach in St Ives (you’ll need to book) and get an ice cream at Moomaid of Zennor.
