We are taking disabled pensioners to Kent for bank holiday. Please can anyone recommend a beach right near the car park so there isn't much walking. Thank you!

Camber Sands. Main car park is right next to the beach. Helps it is also a lovely sandy beach too, but does mean it gets very busy early on if the weather is good!

Hope you don’t mind me asking, are they wheelchair bound On Bexhill, they have a Beach Garden, and put in decking so people can access the beach. You can park on the roadside. (The beach is a mixture of pebbles and sand).

They would need wheelchair if it were a bit of a walk. That info is good to know, thank you!

I dont know what your distance from there in terms of travel for the day or future occasions, but there are good places near Rye and Hastings - search for accessibility on tehir local sites

Herne Bay has plenty of roadside parking along the Central Parade. There’s some disabled parking along there between the pier and clock tower. The paths along the beach and on the pier are level and suitable for wheelchairs.

St Mary's Bay or Dymchurch. Parking at Camber Sands is extortionate.

Minnis Bay in Birchington and Westbay in Westgate both have parking right next to the beach - both sandy bays about 20-30 mins from Canterbury

Minnis has a couple of pubs and ice cream etc with a ramp down to the beach, car park

Westbay has one pub across the road and again a ramp down to the prom with on road parking

Minnis Bay? There’s a short ramp from the road to the beach, but it is a bit uphill on the way back. Check the tides though-when it’s out it’s OUT!! The car park is pretty big though, and you can get tea or a drink, although the food’s not brilliant.

It depends what you want-but we love Seasalter. There’s nothing touristy, and you’d need a picnic and it can be a bit wind-blown and there are steps to get over the sea wall. But you can usually park very close to the steps. And once again-the water is a million miles away if you get the tide wrong. I’m aware I’m not selling this one!!!!
