Hi everyone, we want to take our 1 year old away on holiday for the first time, we live near Manchester and our daughter hates the car so ideally somewhere about 3 hours or less from Manchester. We would normally go down to Cornwall but this would just be too far to travel with our little one! We also like Whitby but we want somewhere we can go for a week and you would struggle to kill a few days there with a 1 year old I think!
Here are things what we would be looking for:
Definitely a seaside place
Some nice places to eat out (child friendly)
A few things to do/places to visit for children/ Activities
A nice beach

Any suggestions would be nice appreciated! Thanks in advance x

Have you looked at Northumberland? The beaches are absolutely beautiful and there are lots of lovely villages and towns that you can visit. Beadnell and Bamburgh are our favourites. There are some absolutely fantastic restaurants around too.

North Wales. Anglesey or Abersoch

North Wales! Hafan y Mor is a fantastic Haven site so great for kids and there’s lots to explore off site as well with lovely beaches.

Llyn peninsula, Abersoch and Aberdaron. Lots of different sorts of accommodation with a range of prices. So many beautiful beaches, walks, crabbing etc. Beautiful scenery. We love it.

Whitby

As already mentioned North Wales has it all for all budgets, plenty of quiet or busy places depending on what you want, Llyn peninsular is fantastic just returned from anther camping trip.
Llandudno / Conwy area is nice too
The thing we like is drive for 20 minutes and its different, loads of beaches lakes waterfalls

Northumberland or Tynemouth / Whitley Bay. Northumberland beaches are beautiful, lots to do in the towns and villages. Also close to Newcastle to do things. Tynemouth and Whitley Bay are very family friendly, both have great beaches, lots going on and you could get the metro into Newcastle.

I came to say Hafan Y Mor too

Came on to say the Lakes but you specified seaside. There's still lots of water activities. I like Keswick (try Low Briery resort) which has lots for kids. Love the experience freedom resort next to Coniston. Or staying near lake windermere lots of activities for little ones. Grasmere is fab too.

Definitely North Wales

We used to take our DC to Ribby Hall when they were little. It’s not seaside but lots of activities for them to do. I always used to think it was like a smaller Center Parcs.
