Me and 3 other girlfriends are planning a trip to Liverpool for 2 nights but we’ve no idea where to start! 2 will be training up from south of country 2 will be flying in from Ireland so ideally places close to the train station and central to everything we will be of course having meals and drinks but not sure what else we can do and how close things are? Tips appreciated 😊

Liverpool city centre isn't big, so you can go anywhere, but Lime St isn't the most salubrious area!
Lots of buses and trains if you want to go a bit out of town, but most of the main sites all walkable in city centre.

If you like culture, there are 2 cathedrals, Walker Art Gallery. Liverpool Museum, walk around the Georgian Quarter.

If you like the Beatles , there isca museum plus bus trips out to Penny Lane and Paul's house (National Trust).

No end of bars and clubs - try around Bold Street and Concert Square.

Royal Albert Dock and Pier Head - more museums, river, restaurants.

Get the bus, train or a taxi out to Crosby to see the Anthony Gormley statues.

Theatre - Empire, Playhouse, Everyman, Shakespeare North in Prescot, Epstein.

if you're a shopper, Liverpool One - large shopping complex.

Just Google any local tourist website! There's enough to do to fill a month, so do plan a bit in advance.

Regarding where to stay, you can’t go wrong with anywhere the in Waterfront, Cavern Quarter or Ropewalks. It’s a pretty compact and very walkable city so all attractions are easily doable.
Book restaurants in advance.
Panoramic 34 is a restaurant with the most amazing views. We went for afternoon tea and the quality and service was superb.
There are a few restaurants on boats, if you want something different! We chose The Floating Grace because it got the best reviews and had a great evening.
Tonight Josephine is a fun and quirky bar known for incredible cocktails and bottomless brunch.

Just another voice saying BOOK RESTAURANTS IN ADVANCE- especially for a group. Two of us a couple of years ago could not get a Saturday table anywhere.

Go up the Radio City Tower viewing platform in the city centre for some great views of the city. Then it's the usual Beatles bits if that interests you, ferry across the Mersey, Liverpool One for shopping, Albert Dock for dining. I really enjoyed Liverpool when I visited. Great city.

The city centre is compact compared to somewhere like Manchester so you’ll have loads of time to do what you.

Liverpool One for shopping (we have just had a Sephora open 🥳).

Somewhere nice to drink and eat would be the Albert Dock or the bars in the Hard Days Night hotel. A lot of the nicer hotels have really nice bars

Hope you all have a lovely time

Livpool · 17/08/2025 20:44

Oh and yes to Lark Lane - we used to live there when dating. Avoid the Albert, Keith’s and The Parkfield if that is still there 🤢

Funf · 18/08/2025 07:36

As mentioned above its a compact city so very easy to get around, it has several Beaches nearby, New Brighton, Crosy, Formby, Ainsdale, Southport.
Lark Lane and Bold Street are our Go Too places for food as plenty to choose from.
Bundo Bust and La Parilla both in Bold street are some of our favourites.
Something different?
The water sports centre offer a speed boat trip around the docks, its great and at the end if you are upon for it they will take you to a dock with no speed limit and run the boat flat out it was great.

Jumping in….can anyone recommend a sports bar or pub which will likely be showing the Liverpool v Newcastle match next Monday? My son and I will be visiting for an Anfield Stadium tour and would like to watch the match that night!

Was impressed by the places to eat, shopping area (Liverpool One), waterfront, ease of getting around on foot and friendly service everywhere we went.

I’d like to visit Formby (?) beach sometime.

Am not usually into cathedrals and am atheist but found it beautiful inside and experienced a sense of calmness and reflection.

We did a History of Liverpool guided walking tour that showed a different side to the Beatles/pop culture that you usually see.

it was excellent - I’d definitely recommend it.

We had family up last week and took them for a day in Liverpool. At weekends the ferries run a 50 minute sightseeing trip up and down the Mersey, just turn up at the pier head or pre book on line. It was a good trip. Mathew Street is full of loud bars with live music all the time, mainly Merseyveat themed. You have not said when you are coming up, but every year there is a big Beatles festival. I read that the Philharmonic pub is having some refurbishments done, so check before you make a trip there to be sure it is open. It is a great city and am sure you will have a brilliant time.

I'd recommend going to the Cavern club. Usually some Beatles tribute act but thr ones we heard were really good amd if you go in the afternoon it's not so busy it's great seeing all the memorabilia on the walls and you can imagine yourself back in time

Reds is a Liverpool themed bar in Exchange street. Otherwise most pubs will be showing it, just pick one near where you’re staying.

We were there on Thursday . Groupon are selling tickets for the hop on hop off bus at reduced price . Great for a quick run round the sights .
