Family room accommodation in Ambleside

I’m looking for a one night stay in, or very close to, Ambleside. Found lots of classic rooms for 2 but need sleeping space for 3.
Anyone know any hidden gems?

Youth hostel

The youth hostels in Ambleside, Langdale (High Close, about 2.5 miles from Ambleside), Windermere and Coniston all have a selection of private rooms for 3/4.

YHs are much less onerous than they used to be! You don’t have to do chores! You don’t have to sleep in a dorm! They serve breakfast.

I looked at youth hostels- the one in Ambleside is £200! I’ve never stayed in one but that feels like a lot!

Sometimes it’s worth paying a bit more for the convenience. I’m guessing you want to go at a peak time if its £200? In a very popular location? I’d be surprised if you found anything much cheaper tbh.

Camping? Glamping - some youth hostels have “pods”, but i am not sure how big they go.

NT Campsites at Great Langdale and Low Wray have wooden pods. I’m pretty sure we’ve stayed in one as a family of 3, but DS would have been a baby.

You might have trouble with a 1 night only stay in The Lakes. There are Premier Inns in Kendal and Keswick. They’ll do family rooms, but not especially close to Ambleside.
