Edinburgh fringe restaurant recommendation

I’m going to the Edinburgh fringe next week to see a few shows. Can anyone suggest any restaurants that cater to a dairy free diet?

doesn’t need to be vegan.

The one you can actually get a booking for at this late stage. Edinburgh is beyond rammed full for the Fringe.

Where are you staying in Edinburgh will also influence this - no point me suggesting somewhere in Leith if you are staying in Colinton....

Yes, everything Central is very booked up as I discovered (for the whole month!), but I did book this nice sounding place for Saturday night at the weekend. It's a bit further out b towards Leith near where we're staying so you might have more luck going a bit out of the centre. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186525-d27692866-Reviews-Brunswick_Book_Club-Edinburgh_Scotland.html

Lots of places don't take reservations in August because they know they can fill tables based on footfall. It's a pain though when you have tickets for shows and need to eat at a certain time! Which part of the city are you going to be in?

Try
Umi - japanese
mother India = Indian tapas
chaophraya - thai
Shish - Turkish

I have eaten in all of these over last couple of weeks, booked them all, no problem. I am veggie but don’t like too much dairy. DH is omnivore, these are good for us both. There are hundreds of restaurants in Edinburgh, you will always get in somewhere. I won’t go to a restaurant unless I can book.

Lots of good options at Edinburgh Street Food, which is part of the OMNi Centre and has an entrance on Leith Street. There are loads of tables and even if it’s full you won’t have to wait long.
