St Ives boat trip recommendations

We are visiting soon and would like to go on one of the boat trips. I’ve looked at the Land’s End one but I don’t know if it’s worth the price? Can anybody recommend any of the boat trips? TIA

Sorry, I should have said, I’m after personal recommendations 😊

@LegoTherapy after I'd posted I thought that may have been so, apologies.

It's been over 20 years since I've been on a boat trip from St. Ives so didn't think my experience was relevant.

I wonder if you'd perhaps have more replies if you also tried the holiday board @LegoTherapy although you would have thought UK travel would've garnered more interest 🤷🏼‍♀️ Good luck

Yes, I thought this board was my best bet but it’s quiet.

There are lots of boat companies outside the Sloop on the harbour. They are much of a muchness in terms of quality. The trips to see the seals are lovely - last maybe a couple of hours which is all my kids wanted to do.
The Firehouse is a great place to eat and we loved the Porthgwidden beach cafe.
Some nice walks - to Zennor and across to Carbis Bay via Haines Walk.

St Ives is an absolute zoo when it comes to boat trips. Desperate touts all hawking, loads of boats harassing the seals.

You're way better off going over to Penzance. It's only a short drive.

LegoTherapy · 03/08/2025 11:29

@WestwardHo1we are getting there by train, no car

We are going to Penzance one day and will do St Michael’s Mount at DD’s request. Their website has a great timetable showing when you can walk the causeway.
A boat trip would be really nice to see the coast and seals. There’s just so many to choose from and I feel overwhelmed with the choice.

There are regular trains over to Penzance but the bus is dead easy.

There are loads of dolphins on the Penzance side as well as seals

We did the Blue Thunder Rib Ride and loved it! Highly recommended for a thrill ride!
