Anglesea Recommendations Please

Unorganisedchaos2 · 28/07/2025 13:36

Me and DD6 are travelling to Anglesea on Monday 4th, I've booked for us to stay 2 nights in South Stack, then we'll go on to Chester on Wednesday morning.

DD has requested fish and chips on the beach and icecream 😊I was planning on the visiting the lighthouse nearby and Trearddur bay. Are there any hidden gems, anyone could recommend? Im not sure shed be that interested in the castles tbh but there's a few small animal sanctuaries, are there any that you you recommend?

Also silly question but I have no picnic/camping stuff (were are staying in a glamping pod) so I was going to get a decent picnic blanket & cool bag and some games to play on the beach, any other random good buys or things you wouldn't be without?

@Unorganisedchaos2 you are welcome, happy shopping 🛍️

Just a mention that the Anglesey seagulls are ferocious! Be careful with your fish and chips on the beach. My DH had an ice cream taken out of his hand by a swooping seagull.

Foel Farm Park and Pili Pilas Nature World are both good.

CalzoneOnLegs · 28/07/2025 14:17

There is a sea salt producer there, I think it was the Hairy Bikers visited I have seen it on TV looks interesting

Youve reminded me of a similar experience with a doughnut on Llandudno pier, the seagulls are ruthless!

If you can stop at Greenwood on the way to Chester, your 6 year old will thank you

Second all the recommendations you've already had. Also, fairly near to the South Stack you have the Holyhead Maritime Mueum which is good, or the Breakwater Country Park and Penrhos Country Park if you fancy walks. Red Squirrels at Penrhos too.
Further afield, in Beaumaris the Gaol is an unexpectedly fun and interesting visit and a rib ride from the pier around Puffin Island is so much fun.
There is so much to do there! Have a wonderful time, it's my favourite place.

Redrosesposies · 30/07/2025 21:01

It's Anglesey not Anglesea ffs

sakura06 · 31/07/2025 05:25

Anglesey Sea Zoo or Pili Palas are both a lovely day out. Red Boat Ice Cream in Beaumaris is fab. Benllech and Rhosneigr are nice beaches for children. Niwbwrch (Newborough) and Llanddwyn are stunning but DD may be too young for the walk to Llanddwyn (plus check tide times).

LlynTegid · 31/07/2025 20:41

If you have time, call in at the place with the longest name in Ynys Mon as I call it.

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllroberchwyrndrobwllllantisiliogogogoch.

Anglesey sea zoo is next door too, it’s just a small
place but it’s good and I’m sure your DD would enjoy a visit.

Also in the same ares as Foel Farm.

If she likes horses Anglesey Riding centre do pony rides for varying abilities age 4+

Trearddur bay is beautiful, and the beach at Llanddwyn is a must

Unorganisedchaos2 · 31/07/2025 21:44

oh amazing - thank you!

Thank you, my Nan loved Beaumaris and DD would love Puffin Island, I'll check out the rest too
