I am staying in Perth next week and hoping to use the park and ride to Edinburgh, is it easy and convenient to use?

Just get the train? You're adding lots of extra time driving to park and ride, then using tram.

PurplePantsofPower · 26/07/2025 09:58

Yes. Very easy, you can leave car or there are regular buses from city centre up to park and ride to connect to buses. Also worth looking at ember bus route as alternative.

DF used to use it regularly. He loved it but was coming from slightly farther than Perth.

I have my car but don't feel confident driving into Edinburgh that's why I thought I'd use the park and ride instead

You don’t want to drive into Edinburgh, traffic is awful and parking is expensive. I would park at inverkeithing park & ride and get the train into Waverley, but tbh you might as well just get the train from Perth.

Can I park at Perth train station?

Another option would be to go to Perth Broxden Park and Ride and get the Megabus/Citylink coach to Edinburgh.

If the times fit, you could make it really special and go from Gleneagles station. The surroundings are beautiful and the station is very quaint. Plus it's easy parking and it's free! You'd have to change once at Stirling, which is very straightforward.

This. However, the Ember is faster and cheaper.

Can't you just leave your car where you are staying and get the train? Or are you not staying in Perth itself?

Pinkchilli · 27/07/2025 09:42

Yes very easy to do broxden p&r at Perth. The bus is very quick and probably cheaper. You can park at perth train station for £3 per day but there are not a lot of spaces. So give plenty time to find a space.
