Walks ending at a spa hotel in middle/south uk?

Best Friend and I are belatedly planning a joint 40th celebration for us both.

we want to go on a super scenic walk, that somehow is near a fancy spa hotel for evenings with a glass of champagne and a hot tub, or something like that!

Its going to be end of August this year, so weather hopefully not too much of a worry, although we don’t mind rain!

ideally within 2/3 hours by train from London

can anyone help us with some suggestions?! Thank you so much!

Oh I love this idea!

I think I’d start with the spa and work outwards.. but I don’t know enough about the walks near the spas I’ve been to.

Is the Peak District too far north? I love the look of the Buxton Crescent Hotel and I love walking in the Peaks so that would work for me.

I’ve had lots of recommendations for Nirvana Spa near Wokingham, and they do have a hotel called West Court nearby. It’s not too far from the Thames Path but unlikely to be a ‘walk in’ scenario - will need a taxi or bus.

How about the Moonfleet Manor Hotel at Chickerell? It's very near Weymouth, there are some excellent walks in the area.

💯 The Grand Hotel Eastbourne. Direct 90 mins train from London. Has spa, indoor pool and outside pool. 15 min walk to the start of the South Downs Way from outside the hotel where you can walk for miles over the top of the cliffs. Buses every 10 mins leave Eastbourne station for Brighton that can drop you at Beachy Head, Severn Sisters, Cuckmere Haven etc if you want to explore some different walks.

20 mins train to Lewes from Eastbourne for different South Downs walks.

Spa hotels to consider are South Lodge near Horsham and Ockenden in Cuckfield. Both are near some lovely walks.

Lucknam Park has some fabulous Cotswolds walking nearby.

I was coming on to say the Grand in Eastbourne, but @Tootingbec beat me to it!

Wotton House Hotel between Guildford and Dorking could work. Pool/hot tub available. Lots of lovely walks in the Surrey Hills - Leith Hill, Box Hill and everything in between.

😬

Eastbourne is very underrated I think! Sea front sooooo much nicer than Brighton and I love that you can walk out of the town and stand at the start of the South Downs Way where there is a signpost saying “Winchester -100 miles”

I second Lucknam Park - it’s glorious and the food is to die for.

Isn't Moonfleet Manor a family hotel or am I wildly out of date? I remember going there for early tea for toddlers and a babysitting service.

Anyway, the New Forest: have a look at Chewton Glen, Rhinefield House or Careys Manor.

Sorry, Limewood House too!
