Place to stay with the wow factor near Snowdon

We’re doing the mountain train up Snowdon later this month and have 2 nights to spend in the area for my partner’s 50th. I have spent far too long on Booking.com and AirB&B and can’t make a decision! So looking for personal recommendations please. Must be clean and slick as opposed to four-poster beds, dark furnishings and too much upholstery if you know what I mean!

The only place I know near there is the Lake Vrynwy Hotel but it was very much a four poster place when I stayed there! Very special location though.

Second Lake Vrynwy hotel stayed there a long time ago beautiful setting

Lake Vrnwy hotel for sure.

Castell Deudraeth at Portmeirion. It's not too four poster-y but the setting and the food are both lovely. Don't go for the main hotel as it's not as nice IMO. Staying there also gives you free entry to Portmeirion for a wander round.

Bodysgallen is also nice and is a spa place. As is Lake Vyrnwy, which is in a beautiful setting.

Stayed in one of the cottages actually in the village at Portmeirion earlier this year. We ate in both the main hotel and the castle. Loved it.

Look at River Catcher cottages, about an hour from Snowdon. Gorgeous cottages on the river.
