Solo Christmas break suggestions

I'm 61 and will be alone this Christmas for the first time due to recent divorce and my adult DC having other plans this year (nothing to do with separation and I'm really glad they have these plans) I'm thinking of booking a short uk break for solo travellers and wondered if anyone has any suggestions.

Me too!
Budget not an issue but don't want to feel ripped off either.
Who on MN of the older generation has done this and enjoyed it?

Sorry to hear you are in the same situation. Let’s hope we get some good suggestions. I do have other family and friends who I know would invite me but as well as logistics of getting places with no public transport and not being a confident driver in the dark, I think I may find someone else’s family Christmas too emotional and don’t want to burst into tears over Christmas dinner or for people to have to be careful what they say so would rather something completely different. Like the idea of a group that is all singles rather than something like warner breaks where they will put singles together

Thank you for those great suggestions. Makes me dread Christmas a bit less knowing I could do something exciting.

I did a solo trip to Amsterdam one year, flying out on 26 Dec and back on 30 Dec. Very relaxing, low key, easy.

Oops, sorry, not UK obviously! But an option for another time, maybe.

Sounds lovely. Absolutely no reason I can’t go abroad but have never travelled anywhere on my own so breaking myself in gently

I can put you up on my sofa near the seafront on the south coast.

My 93 year old Mum would love to go away for a couple of days over Christmas. Budget is an issue ( 5 days for £2,000 out of her reach), any suggestions for short breaks with other solos would be very appreciated.

Many companies like p and o cruises do short Xmas cruises sailing out of Southampton
