Hi,

I have a controlling baby dad, haven’t been together for 2 years. He wants to get a passport, can he get one without my permission? Also if i was to want to get one would i need his consent? He is on birth certificate

If you mean a passport for the baby you might want to apply for one yourself so you have physical custody of the passport. You will have to provide details of thr father but you don’t both need to sign the application. Of course he can do this too so I’d get in there first

If he has a suitable photograph then he can. You also can.
Get it done ASAP. Once you've got her passport ordered he can't order a copy of it, only one per person is allowed.

Also be aware that when going abroad you may be asked for proof of permission from anyone with parental responsibility. More likely whilst she's young. It's not fail safe, so if he had her passport there's a chance he would either not be asked, or pass with a forged letter, but for you to legally take her on holiday you need to either get his permission or apply for a court order authorising it.

As @VanCleefArpels says, either you or he can apply for your child's passport if you or he are on the birth certificate.

Once your child has a passport, permission is supposed to be sought of each parent by the other to take the child abroad for a holiday. If one parent says no unreasonably, the the other can go to court and get permission.

Or if you have a court order determining access, it can be included in that.

I suggest you apply for the passport first. Then at least you know it is done Getting a baby to keep still long enough for a photo without screaming, is not always easy.
