Holiday park for teenagers

Hi, having given up on camping due to the unreliable weather, we’re looking to book a short break at the end of August with a friend and her daughter. In our party there’s me, DP, DS and the dog ( arthritic and not able to walk far ). The kids are both 13, and have requested a caravan park with plenty to do. We’re in South Cumbria, so somewhere within about 2/3 hours drive, but not the Yorkshire coast as we’re going there shortly. Also not Center Parcs as too expensive and also looks fully booked. We were thinking of booking the caravans privately then getting passes for the kids.
I’ve looked at Haven Craig Tara and it looks great, but just a bit concerned it will be huge and busy, and if we booked two caravans separately they’ll be miles away from each other!
Can anyone recommend somewhere roughly North Wales, Northern Lakes, Lancs, Southern Scotland area with decent swimming pool and activities for older kids? Could be a lodge style park if there’s plenty of outdoor space and close to things to do. Can’t do much walking unfortunately due to the disabled dog!
Sorry for the rambling 🙂

Everywhere will be busy in August

Scottish school go back around the middle
of August so the end of the month could be quieter, or at least it’ll be mostly pre school kids.

Whinfell Center Parcs?

sanityisamyth · 21/06/2025 17:25

Ah just seen too expensive. Sorry!

Havens are never that big. If the kids are teenagers they can walk and find each other in the middle. I vote for Butlins. Everything included and pool amazing. Have heard Craig Tara is good though.

Ah just seen too expensive. Sorry!

It’s a no go in the school holidays! Though I did have a look out of interest and there’s no dog friendly accommodation left anyway.

Forgot about Butlins! Will see where our nearest one is.

Haggerston Castle has loads of activities.

Darwin Forest feels less busy than the larger Haven parks during peak time. There aren’t as many activities but we managed to fill a few days with older children, doing seascooters, zorbing, arcade, bike hire, archery, swimming, pickleball and mini golf. Dd and I also had manicures!

Thanks everyone!
