Christchurch Dorset

Found a lovely apartment to rent for a few days in the summer with teenage daughters. Don’t know Dorset but fancied trying somewhere different. It’s in a place called Highcliffe.

Before going ahead does anyone know this area and how easy to get to places. Plus recommendations where to go/things to do?

thanks in advance

It’s beautiful, coastal walks and the new forest are both a walk or short bus away. Christchurch town centre is lovely and has historic churches and castle ruins. You can hire little boats on the river there. Also check out Hengistbury Head if you like walking, it’s stunning or there’s a little train that can take you to the end or you can get a ferry across from Mudeford Quay in minutes. Crabbing at Mudeford Quay is also a great activity locally there. Highcliffe castle also offers an interesting potter with a cafe and has a lovely woodland walk down to the beach.

I would look at getting the open top bus to Burley, New Forest too! It’s a witchy village with the most interesting shops and incredibly ice creams. Plus lots of ponies :)
