Hotel or accommodation in Manchester for 17 year olds

Other than YHA, does anyone know of any hotels or accommodation providers that will accept 17 year olds please?

DS and his mate want to go to a gig in Manchester but it’s hours from us. They’re struggling to find somewhere.
Thanks.

What venue is the gig at?

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 04/06/2025 08:48

I have had similar issues with DS (nearly 17). Couldn't find anywhere to take him under 18. Could they book a private room at the YHA? Youth hostels are really nice these days!

If it's over the summer holidays some of the student accommodation does short term lets.

Do they actually ask for ID in places like travelodge or premier inn?

The big arena. Looks a way out of town.

No idea but he’s a blond baby face so doesn’t necessarily look older. When 3 hours from home I’d rather do it legitimately if possible.

The co-op arena? It's a bit of a way out of the city centre but it's on the Metrolink line or walking distance from the Piccadilly side of the city.

sciaticafanatica · 04/06/2025 14:31

@Vacanzafor ease he needs to be at Piccadilly side of town as trams are not running smoothly through city centre for a few weeks

Thanks, not for a few months yet so hopefully not an issue then unless it’s common.

Not found anything other than YHA which is the ‘wrong’ side

@Vacanza have a look at a private room at YHA at potato wharf castlefield .
He can easily get a tram or bus from there and the area is absolutely fine .

Thanks, good to know. I think I'm
going to encourage them
to do this and get it sorted asap.

There's more than one "big arena" Which one is it?

tothesea · 04/06/2025 17:47

DS1 stayed in a Holiday Inn at 17. I emailed them and they said it was fine.

Which is not what their T&Cs say!

It is the Co-op that was mentioned above. On the east side of the city.

Yes I know but when I contacted them directly they said it would be ok. To be fair he was only a few months off 18.

Ds is staying in an Airbnb that has a key safe when he travels for an open day soon. He does look 18 though
