We are looking for a 2-3 night stay early September for our anniversary. This is rare time away from kids/dogs/work so we want somewhere we will be left alone, is a bit luxurious, quiet ideally with some private outside space plus access to places to walk nearby. Max budget is £600.

Any small hotel or AirBnB recommendations? Sussex/Surrey Kent preferred but can travel a bit further afield.

The Fisherman’s Huts at Whitstable or The Bothy at Knepp Castle.

Thanks will take a look at your suggestions @Forgottenmyphone . The one you posted looks amazing & just the sort of thing we're after @Hazeltwig but sadly booked on the weekend we need.

The Bothy looks amazing but also booked unfortunately and the Fisherman's Huts whilst lovely, are a bit too in the thick of it for what we want. Ah thanks anyway.

Port Lympne? Not sure about the pricing but one night feels like a proper break and then you could stay somewhere locally?

Take a look at the Five Bells at Brabourne! It is in the Kent Downs near lovely walks, 12 miles from Canterbury and about 20 to Leeds Castle plus easy access to the Kent coast. Lovely pub with amazing quirky rooms.

Have a look at Whitstable Fisherman’s Huts. Definitely quirky-plenty of good walking and some fab restaurants.

Oops-Fisherman’s Huts already out of the running! Sorry!🤣

The Gallivant at Camber Sands is beautiful, adults only and right near Rye for a lovely side trip.

Quirky glamping in Hassocks?

AFrankExchangeofViews · 04/06/2025 13:14

There are some amazing unusual places to stay in Dungeness. Close to Rye for restaurants and shopping as well.

What about Bailiffscourt Hotel, by the sea near Climping, West Sussex?

I've both eaten there a few times and stayed for a weekend, admittedly a while ago. Fabulous quirky building and grounds. https://www.hshotels.co.uk/bailiffscourt

Thank you all - there's some amazing places on Canopy & Stars so just choosing one that fits our dates and budget.
