Extra fee for Seat for infant on Ryanair - age discrimination??

I want a seat for my one year old to fly between UK and Ireland. I booked a child seat online and have contacted them to let them know it’s for an infant and now they also want the infant fee of £25 each way. If they were 4 months older I wouldn’t have to pay both the seat price and the infant fee so it feels like a £50 penalty! EasyJet happily amend and charge no further fee given we’ve paid for a seat either domestically or internationally. I’m struggling to understand what this extra infant fee is for given I’ve paid for a child seat, luggage etc. At my most dramatic this feels like age discrimination on a one year old! Any advice or experience on this?

The person probably thinks you have a baby and a child with you..

Just cancel it and have your child on your lap. It's such a short flight, it's not worth paying and extra for.
