A Little London Help Please

We will be travelling to London as a group of 5 and need somewhere to stay for the weekend.

All adults and not a same sex henny situation etc. Family group but with grown children.

Activities include within London city and will be arriving from the north by train.

Happy with either a hotel or an AirBnB if anyone has any recommendations, I'd be grateful.

Many thanks!

What kind of budget do you have? Sea Containers Hotel on the Southbank is lovely, but more of the expensive side of things Sea Containers London | Book Direct for the Best Rate. Or if you'd prefer cheaper, there's a premier inn right by Kings Cross, and you can access all tube lines easily from there Search results | Premier Inn

Budget? How many bedrooms needed?

ChocoChocoLatte · 12/05/2025 21:00

We would manage with two bedrooms as long as there are beds for 5, in any set up.

Airbnb means the eating out budget can be cut slightly as we’d have access to a kitchen.

we don’t mind it being outwith and travel in as we’ve done all the usual sight seeing….

maybe we should start with best areas to stay and go from there!

budget for Thurs - Sunday approx £1k for somewhere decent ?

@xmasdealhunterthose apartments are super lovely but I imagine way out of budget. Something inbetween that and a travel lodge lol

DH & I have stayed in some stunning spots when just us visiting but as this is the whole gang, we’ll aim a little lower.

Novotel have some good options as an ‘in between’ hotel. Worth thinking about Canary Wharf as it’s slightly cheaper with good connections to the city on the Elizabeth line. The Novotel there has a super rooftop bar! citizen M is another chain with some better value rooms

DancingNotDrowning · 12/05/2025 21:21

I’m agree with @xmasdealhunter if you’re on a budget you can do worse than premier inn, although I think you’ll struggle to find anywhere for 166 per room per night.

Sea containers is lovely but rooms are small and none of them accommodate three people as far as I recall.

ChocoChocoLatte · 12/05/2025 21:30

@DancingNotDrowningThat would be for an Airbnb. Happy for it to be a little more.

Will check the Novotel @sunisbetterthanrainthank you - I am fond of a rooftop bar although it will be out of season for it Grin

Im actually thinking we’d be better basing ourselves more north as we come into Kings Cross….

Go south London. Cheaper and surprisingly closer to the action. Try the London Waterloo Travelodge. Cheap. Right next to the Inperial War Museum (the best London museum IMO) and 5 minutes walk to the river. Anything around Elephant and Castle, Waterloo, Kennington is a great spot
