Luton Airport to Ipswich

Is there a way of doing this journey using public transport? My map app tells me to travel via London, which obviously isn’t ideal.

You can do National Express changing at Stansted - not the quickest at around 3.5-4.5 hours depending on the service, but would avoid the central London changeover.

Bus from Airport to Luton town centre, bus to Hitchin, train to Cambridge then train to Ipswich. I’d think via London will be much faster or NX coach as pp said.
