Frinton, local area and Lifehouse Spa

Haven't seen the sea for ages! I was looking at hotels in Frinton and they don't really seem to be any.

Was looking at a weekend away with my friend and it did occur to me that we could also try the Lifehouse spa. Also covers us a bit if weather is bad although the gardens look lovely.

Has anyone visited and what did you think? Also, are the closer beaches nicer? We can explore a bit by car but would like to have a nice walk. Any pub or restaurant recommendations would be welcome. Not sure if we would book the meal package at the spa.

Thanks for any advice.

I have been to Lifehouse several times since it opened. It used to be lovely but I have to say the last time I went, a few years ago, it was looking a bit tired and run down.
Frinton beach is lovely. Walton joins on to Frinton so has the same sandy beach, I like it myself but it is tackier than Frinton with arcades etc at the pier end. I often walk from Frinton station to Walton station along the beach. The Naze end and the backwaters of Walton are nice for walks, boat trips etc.
Clacton is Clacton. Kiss me quick, crazy golf, Toby carvery.

I agree about lifehouse being run down.

What about Harwich? You have a really nice hotel on the seafront, beach, independent vintage cinema, coastal walks - you can also easily get to Frinton and Walton from there too.

Frinton beach is fabulous. Lifehouse not so much. The rooms are nice and garden beautiful, but the spa itself run down and crowded, and the food very average.

Harwich is one of those places that should be lovely but isn’t. It is very, very rundown.

Frinton is lovely but when the tide is in, you’ll be looking for other things to do. Walton on the naze is not particularly appealing and as a pp said, a bit on the tacky side.

Is it a spa weekend you want specifically? Or somewhere by the sea?

Thanks for all the info

I was originally thinking I'd like to be by the sea but spa caught my eye

friend is unbothered but likes a spa.

I don't know much about Harwich but had heard Walton on the Naze is nice so Lifehouse seemed a good choice. Gardens look nice too.
