LONDON: Food and Drink

A group of 4 (all adult women) are off to London at the start of July and are looking for somewhere to go on the Saturday evening. We aren't big on 'pub crawl' so would like somewhere nice we can go, have food but stay for drinks afterwards.

Everywhere I seem to find only let's you book the table for 1.5/2 hours, we don't want to be moved on so soon!

Any tips?

We are staying in the Westminster area.

Could you call ahead and ask as if you are ordering drinks all night some places will let you keep the table depending on what time you will be eating - especially if it is a bar or pub with food rather than a restaurant.

In July I'd choose somewhere with an outdoor bit personally. Lighterman in Granary Square or maybe something different like Between the Bridges on Southbank. Or you could go to Decimo at The Standard in Kings Cross then move up to the Roof Terrace after dinner.

The time thing is such a pain and on a Saturday night they might be keen to move people along to get extra covers in. I usually try and book a table about 8pm and that sometimes works in that they let us stay on and have drinks.
Otherwise I would recommend Battersea Power Station. There are some nice places to eat there and then you stop off at Two Drops for drinks and lovely cocktails. I went there with 3 friends and it was such a cosy atmosphere and the bar staff were great fun. So, there’s not too much moving around as they are all in close proximity to each other. That might work?

Battersea Power Station is a great call!! Loads of different spaces but in one location- thank you 😊

The London Pub in Russell Square is good. Good pub food and drinks are a good price too. We popped in to watch a football match and we weren't chased away 🙂
