Hello
We are looking to have a weekend away with some friends this summer. Somewhere not too expensive ideally, that is coastal or within easy reach of the coast. We are all based in West Yorkshire so Northumberland, Yorkshire coast would be ideal that way we don’t have to drive for hours. The site doesn’t need to be all singing and dancing, maybe have a playground at most but generally we want the kids to be able to have a bit of freedom and make their own fun.

Accommodation-wise, we would like static caravans, pods, yurts, that kind of thing. We don’t have tents so need at least a basic structure to sleep in!

Anyone have any suggestions/recommendations?
Much appreciated! 🙏 x

Coast and Castles in Northumberland is a lovely relaxed family friendly site with glamping. Allows campfires, BBQs and has a small play area.

That sounds like a lovely summer plan — and you're in a great spot for options that aren’t too far from West Yorkshire. Here are a few suggestions that tick the boxes for coastal access, family-friendly vibes, and budget-conscious stays:
🏕 Humble Bee Farm (near Scarborough) – Set in the Yorkshire Wolds, this site offers glamping pods, yurts, and static caravans. There’s a small playground, lots of open space, and it’s just a short drive to Filey or Scarborough beaches.
⛺️ Jubilee Park Farm, Northumberland – Close to Bamburgh and Seahouses, they’ve got cozy pods and a peaceful setting with plenty of space for kids to roam. Very laid-back and close to the coast!
🚐 Crows Nest Caravan Park (Cayton Bay, Scarborough) – This one’s a bit more structured but still affordable, with static caravans and a short walk to the beach. There’s a playground too, but it doesn’t feel too commercial.
🌲 Camp Katur (North Yorkshire) – While not right on the coast, it’s an amazing glamping spot with unique accommodation (like safari tents and hobbit pods), and it's super kid-friendly with a wild woodland feel.
All are within a few hours' drive and offer that “let the kids run wild” feel you’re after. Hope that helps — happy to share links or more details if you’re interested!.... many taxi services like jackstaxis.co.uk can help you throughout your journey

This is great @uswa thank you so much for all these suggestions! We’ve been to Humble Bee a few years back and it was lovely. I’ll enjoy researching the others, thanks again 🙏
