I’ll be in D&G this summer for a week, any suggestions for interesting places to visit and things to do? Have a car. Seems to be lots of castles which is good, and Wigtown for the bookshops.

We loved it when we visited - so beautiful. We did ice cream making class at Cream o’ Galloway which was fun with kids

Definitely take a drive on Raiders Road to Otters Pool. Gorgeous scenery and photo ops, and otters pool is incredible for paddling!

We visited a few years ago and went to Dock Park with the DC which they loved. Eldest DC enjoyed taking photos of the Treenis on the way there😂

Just recently back from Cumbria and on the way back home they enjoyed looking out for the Treenis again 🙄😂

If you want a beautiful beach ( and we love rockliffe as well) then drive along the main road to Mossyard. It’s a left turn past gatehouse of fleet. You drive through a farmyard and the there is a small car park. Walk behind the car park for 5 mins and it opens up to a wonderful beach with views and plenty of space for beach combing. The sea is safe to swim and paddle in.
