Nice hotel/b&b in Surrey/West Sussex?

We have a night away whilst staying with family in July. Will be based near Surrey/West Sussex. Need something for just DH and me, so no worries about it taking kids!

Preferably not too expansive or too bland/corporate chain. Would be happy with quirky and cheaper than plush and expensive as our budget probably not more than £100-£130 absolute tops for the night. Rural good.

Any thoughts?

You are so lucky if you can stay in the Royal Oak, East Lavant (nr Chichester). An utterly gorgeous pub with rooms and fantastic food. I dream of the day I can leave my new baby with someone and zoom off back with my DH. Rural, yes. In your price bracket, yes. Not remotely corporate.

Thank you so much - i had forgotten the Royal Oak, we stayed there a couple of years ago - it has beautiful cornfields behind it doesn't it and great food in the pub?
