Woodstock itself has a lovely selection of hotels

LimitIsUp · 09/03/2025 18:11

Sounds good - is there one in particular that stands out?

This is only a 5-minute walk from Blenheim:

The Bear is lovely

MMAMPWGHAP · 09/03/2025 18:35

Blenheim Palace itself I though was a very poorly labelled rip off. Go somewhere else instead.

Depending on how close to Woodstock you want to be and budget - Estelle Manor?

They might be going to an event at Blenheim palace. I didn’t think the palace was that bad. Woodstock is lovely.

I would say this too, if you want luxury.

LimitIsUp · 10/03/2025 18:11

Thank you for the hotel suggestions - perfect

Just don’t stay in room 16!

DPotter · 21/03/2025 02:34

Why not ?

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 21/03/2025 07:51

It’s rumoured to be haunted. All I can say is I had the most shocking sleepless night in there due to heavy footsteps.

DPotter · 21/03/2025 19:33

Ooo.

Can't remember which room we slept in - and no heavy footsteps!

Maybe not quite luxury but the Killingworth Castle has an excellent restaurant and is around 10 min drive from Blenheim Palace

Agreed it is expensive - £40+ for an adult ticket, probably the most expensive entry ticket for a building I’ve ever seen

It's not necessarily "luxury" but the Bear and Ragged staff is a lovely pub not far away (original pub is centuries old - there is also a modern extension, but ask for a room in the main building to really appreciate the character).
Also decent food, both breakfast and evening.
