Traveling with 4 month old baby

Hi, first time mom traveling for the first time. I'm finding it challenging just leaving the house to go to the shop and navigating the nap times and now planning on traveling to SA. it's a 12hr flight - 22.30pm with a bed time at 8pm.

My baby is generally a good sleeper apart from when he is not in his cot. He doesn't sleep in the move (car or pram) even if I do sound machine and make it dark.

I'm terrified of traveling and not sure how to navigate the nap times to avoid an overtired baby on the plane. Any advice?

My DC were the exact same with the sleeping, but they'd sleep in the plane bassinet (book in advance, the airline will have details on how to do this). If you're travelling with BA, they recommend using a cozigo cover to block out light CoziGo | Universal Sleep and Sun Bassinet Cover For Babies | Shop Now. Feed them as you're taking off and landing so that their ears don't hurt.

Just not sure what to do re nap schedule and how to navigate this.
Arriving at the airport (3hrs before flight) will be just about his bedtime.
