I'm a single parent of two, aged 12 and 6. I've taken on some extra work and have a little pot to take them away for a change of scene over the Easter holidays, one or two nights depending on cost. I know I could Google but I'd love some personal recommendations for destinations and hotels, please. My youngest has significant SEND if it's relevant but he doesn't have major physical needs so no need for an accessible room.
The absolute essentials:
- not self-catering, so either b&b with easy access to restaurants for dinner or half board
- walking distance to a good beach, within three hours' drive of Birmingham
- good-sized family rooms, with a double where I can co-sleep with my youngest and a proper single or double bed for my eldest (ie not a camp bed)
- bath in the bathroom
- parking nearby
- fairly quiet - traffic noise etc not such a concern but noise from a disco or club would really distress DC2
The desirables:
- access to a swimming pool
- things to do or see in the immediate area, bonus points for dinosaurs / trains / fossils to appeal to youngest's special interests
There is a bit of flex in the budget for somewhere really nice, say up to £500 including meals. I'm happy to consider a chain like a Premier Inn but would like to consider independents too.
Thank you!
