We are thinking of visiting for a long weekend in the Easter holiday. We are travelling by train. Can anyone recommend anywhere to stay please?

How many of you are going? Seaham Hall is fantastic but not cheap.

I've stayed here (in the flat) and it was nice and reasonable value. I've also stayed at Seaham Hall, which is wonderful though very, very expensive.

Sorry, I don’t have any suggestions, but are you hunting for sea glass by any chance 😊?

LegoTherapy · 24/02/2025 20:53

There's 3 of us, one adult and two children and yes we are sea glass hunting 😃 It's teenage dd who is really into it and wants to try her hand at jewellery making. Ds and I enjoy it too and it's a good excuse to explore somewhere new. We've never been to the North East before and it looks so beautiful.

@EachFallenRobin No16 looks lovely and is reasonable. We aren't very fussy and usually stay in premier inns.

I’m a sea glass hunter myself 🥰. It is very addictive, and relatively cheap!

I love seeing photos of multis that have been found there. I hope you manage to find lots of lovely delights.

My mil lives there. The story of the sea glass goes back a good few years when there was a glass factory in Seaham and they dumped the broken bottles into the sea. There’s also the glass museum in Sunderland, you could probably get a bus there.^^

Seaham Hall is stunning. The spa is unreal. Not masses to do in Seaham other than glass collecting.

Have stayed in No16 several times and it's lovely. No breakfast but you have some cafes nearby
