Does the price of hotels drop?

I need one night in Birmingham city centre in the week beginning 3rd March. I'll be on my own so want somewhere I'll feel comfortable. I'm a bit shocked at the prices ( mostly over £200 including breakfast).

Does anyone know whether prices likely to drop if I wait?

It’s Crufts at the NEC that week so I can’t imagine prices will go down, the city will be packed.

Birmingham when an event is on I doubt it. I book the area regularly and it’s rarely cheap and book as far in advance as possible.
