Lunch near Birmingham Hippodrome

Where would be a good, non-chain, place for lunch before a matinee at Birmingham Hippodrome?

Anything apart from sushi.

The Circle Lounge within the Hippodrome is well worth considering, Angelina Adamo is a talented local chef. Pre matinee they serve various platters or delicious mains/puds. You definitely do need to book.
Alternatively, close to the theatre is a family owned Greek restaurant,Mythos, with reasonably priced authentic dishes and Santorini is very similar and equally close. They do not look amazing from the outside but don't be put off.
Han Dynasty has a variety of Asian vendors (maybe 12?) and is open from 11am weekdays.

Honestly there is a huge choice of independent restaurants in B'rum centre, all close to the theatre, depending what you fancy.

You’re spoilt for choice in Brum. The theatre is right in the chinese quarter- so many places to choose from.
the greek places are a good shout- look dodgy outside but are good eats.

Chung Ying Garden is very close by (as mentioned) the Hippodrome is situated in the Chinese Quarter and is lovely.

Bonehead is a fabulous chicken restaurant, trust me, it’s incredible.

There will be loads of restaurants within a 15 minute walk though.
